Welcome to Singing Made Easy / Music Made Easy

Bernie Murray-Ryan

My name is Bernie Murray-Ryan. I am a primary school teacher and I have been out of the classroom for the past ten years working on projects which are related to teaching music in the classroom. In these past ten years there have been many music resources produced in this business which are being used in many schools all over Ireland. The most significant of these resources is undoubtedly the "Music Made Easy" schemes which were produced for every class and which can be implemented by every teacher regardless of their own music ability.

The "Music Made Easy" schemes have proven themselves to be the most comprehensive music resource which is available to our primary schools in this country and those teachers who have already bought them have gained a confidence in teaching music which they never thought possible.

This website has been updated very recently and you will be happy to know that once you purchase a scheme you will be able to get access to all the items you have purchased through the website. This means you will be able to listen to the audio which will be streamed live when and where you want it. You will also be able to view the teacher's manual, workbook, wallcharts and flipcharts on your interactive whiteboard or projector. You will still get your hard copy which will be courierd to you as soon as you place your order.

These schemes are laid out in such a teacher friendly way that you really can teach music quite successfully to your students while having only a basic knowledge of the subject yourself. It uses a direct approach and the children learn musical terms from an early age.

Comments received from teachers using the scheme:

  • "I am teaching for just over 30 years and this year was the first year I felt that I actually taught music. Thank you."
  • "I don't think I have ever come across a scheme of work as well laid out and as teacher friendly as this one. Well done. (Any chance you could prepare something similar for other subject areas?)"
  • "My students love the story. Everyday they ask me if we can do the Music Land story. We all love it."
  • "At long last. I have finally got a product which answers all my needs and has everything laid out so well for me that there is no excuse for me not to cover the subject of music. Singing a few songs is no longer the extent of my music in the classroom."

These are only a few comments. Over the years, there have been so many that you couldn't possibly include them all.

The aim of the schemes, resources and website is to make the subject of music accessible to everyone. Music itself plays such a huge part in the overall development of children that it is essential that we teachers do our outmost to nurture that development by giving them every opportunity we can to grow, explore and be creative through this medium.

Of course, this website is not only dedicated to the "Music Made Easy" schemes but it also has "Singing Made Easy" resources available for purchase. These resources are a selection of various songs which are supplied on CD and have backing tracks supplied also. They are a fabulous resource to have in any school.

There is also a section on this website which is dedicated to backing tracks for various songs both religious and non-religious. You have the facility in this section to purchase single tracks for €1 per track.

There is also a section which has some historical DVDs available for purchase. These may be of interest to you.

I hope you enjoy browsing through the website and that you find something that is useful to you in your teaching.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Bernie Murray-Ryan (B.Ed.)
